I help women understand their labs because I had to learn to understand mine.
Hi, I'm Micala, a functional medicine specialist and women's health coach. And now, a new mom who has been on the other side of the lab results.

For years, my body felt like it was working against me.
Every month, severe PMS and PMDD left me irritable, anxious, and drained. I missed social events, felt guilty for snapping at the people I love, and struggled to keep up with work and daily life. Painful acne, brain fog, low energy, and low mood made me feel like I was never fully myself.
I tried diets, skincare, and quick fixes, and nothing gave lasting relief. I felt lost, frustrated, and wondered if I'd ever feel like myself again.
Everything changed when I found functional medicine. Instead of chasing symptoms, I learned to look for the reasons behind them, using nutrition, targeted supplements, movement, nervous system support, and better sleep and stress habits. Slowly, my PMDD eased, my skin cleared, my mood steadied, and my energy came back.
That's why I do this work. Symptoms are information, and when you can read them, you can finally start to feel at home in your body.
Then I became a mom, and saw the gap for myself.
I know how to read bloodwork, and I still felt the difference after having my baby. When my postpartum care didn't include a closer look at my own labs, I looked into what testing made sense and ordered it myself.
I've since learned my experience is far from unusual. Many women tell me they asked for more testing and felt dismissed, or left their postpartum visit without anyone checking things like iron, thyroid, or nutrient levels.
I don't believe that comes from doctors not caring. Appointments are short, routine care follows set guidelines, and providers are stretched thin. But it leaves a gap, and a lot of women are left to figure out how they feel on their own.
That's the gap I'm here to fill. I help you make sense of your symptoms and your labs, so you know what's really going on, where to focus first, and how to start feeling like yourself again.
Great care is a team effort. Your labs help you show up as a full member of it.
